SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Major Japanese acrylonitrile (ACN) producer, Asahi Kasei Chemicals, is operating its 200,000 tonne/year line at Mizushima at a reduced rate due to mechanical problems, a company source said on Monday.
The 200,000 tonne/year line was operating at around 50% capacity and would ramp up its operating rate to full in early May, the source added but declined to elaborate on the mechanical problems.
The line was originally scheduled to restart on 20 April following a three-week shutdown.
The other 100,000 tonne/year line, also at the same site at Mizushima, has restarted as scheduled.
