LONDON (ICIS news)--The urea plant run by Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (Fertil) continues to operate below normal rates due to technical issues, a company source said on Tuesday.

The ongoing production problems would not result in cancelled orders but could mean delayed deliveries, Fertil said.

The United Arab Emirates producer’s 1,800 tonne/day prilled urea unit in Ruwais was restarted on 16 April following technical work.

Despite ramping up after its restart, the unit has yet to reach normal rates.

The company source said current output was not far below normal but added production was still being hindered by technical issues.

An exact production rate was not disclosed nor was the nature of the technical issues.

Fertil has regular contract customers in several countries including Bangladesh, Iran and Sri Lanka.
