TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan’s production of four-wheel vehicles in March increased 2.3% to 1.1m units year on year across all segments including passenger cars, trucks and buses, statistics from a local industry association showed on Wednesday.
This marks the eighth consecutive month of increase, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) said in a statement.
The output of passenger cars, which included standard cars with more than 2,000cc engine capacity, small cars and mini cars, was 950,929 units in March, a 1.4% increase from the year-ago period.
Total trucks produced in March rose 5.3% to 140,234 units, while buses saw a 40.3% rise to 13,496 units, the association said.
The country’s exports of four-wheel vehicles in March stood at 638,384 units, a 12.3% rise year on year, marking the 32nd consecutive month of increase, according to JAMA.
The figure included 559,150 passenger cars, 64,379 trucks and 14,855 buses, the association said.
Total amount for the March exports, which included four-wheel vehicles and car parts, was $15.2bn, a 16.4% increase from $13.1bn in the corresponding period in 2007, JAMA added.
