SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China-based BASF-YPC plans to shut down its aromatics plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu province on 6 May for a weeklong scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Monday.

The plant produces 150,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 100,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 80,000 tonnes/year of xylene.

The turnaround would have little impact on the market supply, as the period was short, the source said.

Benzene, toluene and xylene were pegged at yuan (CNY)9,050-9,100/tonne ($1,295-1,302/tonne), CNY8,950-9,000/tonne and CNY8,400/tonne ex-tank east China respectively, traders said.

BASF-YPC Co is a 50:50 joint venture between BASF and Sinopec.
