SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean polypropylene (PP) producer Polymirae may restart its 600,000 tonne/year facility at Yeochun by 9 May, after shutting it down unexpectedly on 4 May due to disruption in its propylene feedstock supply, a source close to the company said on Monday.

"The facility consisting of four lines was shut on Sunday after propylene supply from Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Center (YNCC) was cut suddenly," the source said, adding that YNCC’s crackers were shut down the same day due to power outage.

"The sudden outage created plugging problems in the reactors and hence the PP producer has to clean up the mess before restarting the plants," he said.

Other key PP producers in South Korea include Honam Petrochemical and Korea Petrochemical Industry Co.
