SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Daelim Industrial may restart its 140,000 tonne/year No 3 high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant at Yeochun by Friday, after shutting it on 3 May due to a sudden disruption in its ethylene feedstock supply, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

Its ethylene supply was cut after Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Center (YNCC) shut down all its crackers on the same day due to power outage, the source added.

Its No 1 and No 2 HDPE lines each with a 130,000 tonnes/year capacity, which were also shut down on 3 May due to the same reason, were restarted on 5 May, he said.

The No 1 unit was running at 100% capacity now and the No 2 line at 50% capacity, he added.

Other key HDPE producers in South Korea include Honam Petrochemical and Korea Petrochemical Industry Co.
