SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Sinopec subsidiary Qingdao Refining & Chemical Company will start up a new polypropylene (PP) plant on 28 May, said a company source on Tuesday.

The nameplate capacity of the PP plant in Qingdao would be 200,000 tonnes/year but that would be currently restricted as the adjacent refinery was only running at 50-60% of capacity, the source added.

The new plant would initially produce PP yarn, while biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) would be produced later, said the source.
