SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--A truck carrying 13 tonnes of sulphuric acid was involved in an accident that has caused a sulphuric acid leak on the Yongjin expressway in China’s Zhejiang province early Tuesday morning.

The truck carrying 325 barrels of sulphuric acid was involved in a collision, which caused nine barrels to leak, but the situation was soon brought under control, sources said, adding that no persons had been injured in the accident.

"Such transport of sulphuric acid is against the law because this truck did not follow any transportation procedure," said a policeman who added that trucks were only allowed to carry loads of up to four tonnes.

China had recently placed severe restriction on the production and transport of certain chemicals in Beijing ahead of the Olympics in August.
