SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean toluene diisocyanate (TDI) producer DC Chemical plans to shut its plant at Kunsan on 11 May for a turnaround, a company source said on Wednesday.

The 50,000 tonne/year plant would resume production on 19 May, the source said.

The shutdown is expected to tighten regional TDI supply further as other key regional producers such as Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes, BASF Urethane Korea and Korea Fine Chemical have also scheduled turnarounds in May.

TDI price discussions in the spot Hong Kong market were hovering around $5,300-5,400/tonne CFR (cost and freight) this week, up to $900/tonne above levels reported last week, traders said.
