LONDON (ICIS news)--Domo Caproleuna has declared force majeure on sulphuric acid and caprolactam production at its Leuna site in Germany, the company confirmed on Wednesday.

The declaration had been made due to “unexpected capital damage” hitting the combustion chamber of its sulphuric acid plant on Monday, it added.

Domo would shut down sulphuric acid production for a minimum of 12 days, while the caprolactam facility would continue to run but at reduced rates, Domo said.

The company would do its best to minimise the effects to its customers by buying sulphuric acid and caprolactam in the merchant market, it said.

Domo produces 100,000 tonnes/year of caprolactam at the Leuna facility, according to ICIS plants and projects database.
