SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Farsa Petrochemical restarted its 400,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant at Assaluyeh on Saturday after a three week shutdown, said a source close to the company on Thursday.

"The plant had some production problems and was closed for repairs but it should be operating normally now," added the source.

Company officials could not be contacted for comment.

Spot prices were at $1,073-1,077/tonne CFR (cost and freight) China on Wednesday, down from $1,108-1,112/tonne about a month ago.

MEG is used to make polyester fibres and yarns and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) chips.
