SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwanese producer Chang Chun Plastics plans to shut down its bis-phenol A (BPA) production facility in October for a scheduled maintenance, a company official said on Thursday.

Chang Chun’s 135,000 tonne/year BPA line, located at Dafa Industrial District in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, would be shut down from early October till November, the official added.

Offers for spot BPA cargoes from the company were reported at $1,850/tonne CFR (cost and freight) China, amid lacklustre downstream demand and poor buying interest.

"We are not lowering our prices due to the high raw material values," the official said in Mandarin, adding that the company was under little inventory pressure due to previously contracted volumes.

Key Asian suppliers of BPA include Nan Ya Plastics, Mitsui Chemicals, LG Chemicals, and Mitsubishi Chemicals.
