LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS expected to bring its vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) unit back to normal operating rates by the end of the weekend, a company source said on Friday.

The 250,000 tonne/year unit at Hull in the UK has been running at reduced rates for the past two-to-three weeks due to the two-day strike over final salary pensions at the Grangemouth site.

The crackers were in the process of being restarted.

All contractual obligations for VAM were fulfilled, but spot participation was limited, the source added.
