LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Olefins was in the process of restarting its crackers at Grangemouth in Scotland, a company source said on Friday.
“The first line of the KG cracker is back up, G4 is in the process of being restarted,” the source said, adding that the second line at the KG cracker would follow G4.
The crackers were shut down at the end of April in preparation for a two-day strike over final salary pensions.
On-spec production at the G4 cracker was expected by the end of this weekend, and normal operations at both crackers was anticipated by the end of next week.
Its G4 and KG crackers have a nameplate capacity of 320,000 tonnes/year and 725,000 tonnes/year ethylene respectively and both produce around 190,000 tonnes/year of propylene.
INEOS also has a 45,000 tonne/year propylene producing fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) linked to the refinery.
