MUMBAI (ICIS news)--The Middle East will become world’s largest supplier of ethylene (C2) by 2010 as new plants come up in the region, an industry official said on Monday at the Organization of Plastics Processors of India (OPPI) meeting.
“The entire Mid-Eastern region is expected to have a total capacity of 23m tonne/year of ethylene in about two years,” saod Nirmal Thakkar, chairman Tipco Industries. “Due to the low feedstock base, availability of gas and abundance of finance in Mid-East, the balance of power is expected to be in favour of the region,” he said.
