HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Another price increase proposal for US ethyl acetate (etac) appears to be in the works, following unsuccessful initiatives in April, a distributor said on Monday.

The distributor said he was notified that a producer wanted to raise etac rates by 3 cents/lb or $66 (€43)/tonne on 1 June because of continuing increases in fuel and costs for feedstock acetic acid.

The producer could not immediately be reached to confirm the price increase.

US etac spot prices bumped up a few pennies last week to reach 53-55 cents/lb, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

Major US etac producers include Celanese, Eastman Chemical and Solutia, whose material is marketed by BP.
