SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Center (YNCC) will restart its No 1 cracker on 16 May after it was shut down again on 12 May due to filter problems in its water tower, a company source said on Tuesday.
"We are planning to restart the plant on Friday as the repair works on the filters would be finished by then," he added.
The 850,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker, which was running at 70% capacity, was shut down on Monday due to broken filters in the water tower.
YNCC’s 550,000 tonne/year No 2 and 400,000 tonne/year No 3 crackers have been operating at 100% since Tuesday morning.
YNCC is South Korea’s largest producer of ethylene, with a combined capacity of 1.8m tonnes/year.
