SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Two Shaanxi, China-based methanol producers Xinrong Chemical Co and Xinyuan Chemical Co have shut down their respective 50,000 tonne/year units for maintenance following damage caused to them by Monday’s earthquake, said company sources on Tuesday.

Neither company could provide a restart date or would elaborate on the damage caused by the 7.8-magnitude quake that hit the country, its epicentre in the neighbouring province of Sichuan where up to 10,000 people are feared dead.
