Lotte Daesan to restart cracker by Wednesday

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea’s Lotte Daesan will restart its cracker by Wednesday after it corrects some minor mechanical faults, a source from the company said on Tuesday.

"We managed to restart the cracker on Monday and produced on-spec material. However, due to minor mechanical problems, we had to shut it down again. We will try to restart the cracker again latest by Wednesday morning," he added.

Lotte Daesan’s newly expanded 1m tonne/year cracker was initially scheduled to restart on 9 May however, the company was unable to do so due to problems in feeding naphtha feedstock.

Traders in the ethylene market, traders remained at the sidelines awaiting updates on the status of the cracker before making offers for cargoes.

Lotte Daesan would also restart its downstream plants once its cracker came on stream.
