LONDON (ICIS news)--Domo Caproleuna expects to lift force majeure on sulphuric acid and caprolactam production in Leuna, Germany once its sulphuric acid unit is running at normal rates, a company source confirmed on Wednesday.
“Force majeure is still in place and the maintenance work on the sulphur acid unit is on schedule,” said the source. “We hope it’s back by the middle or end of next week,” he added.
Domo, which officially declared force majeure to its customers on 5 May, said that it needed to keep the ruling in place until the sulphur acid plant was "running normally".
The declaration was made due to “unexpected capital damage” hitting the combustion chamber of its sulphuric acid plant.
The company said that it would shut down sulphuric acid production for a minimum of 12 days, while the caprolactam facility would continue to run but at reduced rates.
Domo produces 100,000 tonnes/year of caprolactam at the Leuna facility, according to ICIS plants and projects.
