Zhejiang to shut down chlor-alkali for torch relay

SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Zhejiang Shangao Chemical will shut down its 110,000 tonne/year chlor-alkali plant at Zhejiang province in east China during the passage of the Olympics torch relay through that region, a company source said on Wednesday.

The shutdown would last for five days from 15 to 20 May while the torch relay will cover the province from 16 to 19 May.

"We will do our best to have a good well environment ready for torch relay," the source added.

The Olympics torch is scheduled to reach Shanghai on 20 May.

Land transportation of several petrochemical products has been banned in various parts of China during the passage of the Olympics torch relay through the regions.
