SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Mitsubishi Chemical has shut its 450,000 tonne/year cracker in Mizushima for scheduled maintenance, a source from the company said on Thursday.

“We just shut our Mizushima cracker this morning, and it will be restarted on 4 June,” he said.

This is the second cracker to be shut by Mitsubishi for maintenance this month. The producer’s 375,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker was shut earlier this week for a turnaround and is scheduled to restart on 30 June.

Mitsubishi Chemical is the largest producer of ethylene in Japan, which operates three crackers with a combined capacity of more then 1.4m tonnes/year.
