SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Oil and gas major PetroChina has restarted a crude distillation unit (CDU) at its Nanchong refinery after the facility was shut down as a precaution in the wake of Monday’s devastating earthquake, a company source said on Thursday.
Other units at the complex, which produce solvent oil, base oil and paraffin, would be brought back on line as part of a gradual process, the source added.

Meanwhile, PetroChina has dispatched four relief teams to the disaster region to aid in the rescue operation and along with refiner Sinopec the companies have contributed yuan (CNY) 20m ($2.8m) to an assistance fund.
