SINGAPORE (ICIS News)--South Korea’s Lotte Daesan plans to start up its newly expanded benzene plant this evening, a company source said on Thursday.

“As the naphtha cracker is finally restarted [after an expansion], we will try to restart the benzene plant,” the source said.

The company’s benzene plant’s capacity was recently expanded from 170,000 tonnes/year to 320,000 tonnes/year at its site in Daesan.

The company will also ramp up operating rates at its newly expanded 500,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) plant, which was restarted on 21 April, to 100% on Saturday.
