LONDON (ICIS news)--Akzo Nobel will integrate the former ICI’s specialty polymers group into its specialty chemicals business, the Dutch company said on Thursday.

“As a result, Elotex will become part of Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals, while Alco and Personal Care will join Akzo Nobel Surfactants, which will be renamed Akzo Nobel Surface Chemistry,” the company said in a statement.

The move would allow the segments to make the most of synergies and to share infrastructure, the company added.

Akzo Nobel finalised its purchase of UK chemical company ICI in January 2008.
