HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US producers of oxo-alcohols have informed customers of another round of price hikes planned for 1 June on the back of surging energy and record propylene settlements, a supplier said on Thursday.

Most major suppliers were heard to have nominated 3 cent/lb increases for June n-butanol (NBA), iso-butanol (IBA) and 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH).

The nomination, if successful, would be the third consecutive month of increases for the oxygenated solvents, which are used in paints, coatings, adhesives and agricultural applications.

May contracts for these chemicals were moving up around 4 cents/lb following 2-3 cent gains in April, sources said.

IBA and NBA values were in the upper-90s to low-100s cents/lb DEL (delivered), while tight availability and capacity constraints pushed 2-EH into the mid-to-upper 100s cents/lb DEL, according to data from global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

US suppliers of oxo-alcohols include BASF, Dow, Eastman Chemical, Oxea and Sasol.
