SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Centre (YNCC) is currently experiencing mechanical trouble with its No 1 cracker, a source from the company said on Friday.

“The No 1 cracker is producing off-spec material now due to some mechanical trouble. We [are] trying to trace the exact problem after which we will decide if we have to shut down the cracker or not,” the source said in Korean.

The 850,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker in Yeochun was restarted on 14 May after it was shut down twice due to two power outages on 3 May and 12 May.

The company’s two other crackers, No 2 and No 3, are running at 100% of capacity.

YNCC is the largest cracker operator in Korea with a combined capacity of 1.8m tonnes/year.
