SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Leshan Yongxiang resumed carbide-based polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production on Tuesday, a company source said, a week after a massive earthquake struck Sichuan province where it is based killing up to 39,500 people and devastating local businesses.

The 100,000 tonne/year carbide-based PVC plant was closed after the disaster as a precaution and was now operating at 80% of capacity, added the source.

The company was offering PVC at yuan (CNY) 8,450/tonne ($1,212/tonne) DEL (delivered) in Sichuan province and CNY8,400/tonne ($1,205/tonne) DEL to other areas.

The quake was estimated to have cost 14,207 industrial enterprises a staggering CNY67bn ($9.61bn), according to local media sources.
