VIENNA (ICIS news)--Mexican phosphate fertilizer producer Grupo Fertinal will reach its full capacity of 1.2m tonnes/year by August/September, sources at the company confirmed on Wednesday.
The plant, located in Lazaro, Cardenas, was currently running at 70-80% of capacity following a return to operations earlier in 2008 after it was idled in the wake of Hurricane Juliette in 2001, the sources added on the sidelines of the 76th International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) conference.
The company added that as a result, its feedstock ammonia demand would increase to 270,000 tonnes/year, depending on the mix of products being produced.
The plant has the ability to produce diammonium phosphate (DAP), monammonium phosphate (MAP) and triple superphosphate (TSP).
The conference runs from the 19-21 of May.
