MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia's Polyef has started production of bottle-grade polyethylene terephthalate (PET) at its second 60,000 tonne/year production facility, the company said on Wednesday.

The first such unit, based in Blagoveschensk, was started up in March and both facilities together have a total PET capacity of 120,000 tonnes/year.

In April 2007, Polyef shareholders agreed to raise the capacity at its  terephthalic acid (PTA) plant from 115,000 tonnes/year to 600,000 tonnes/year and its PET capacity to 400,000 tonnes/year, at an estimated cost of $840m.
