LONDON (ICIS news)--Dutch melamine producer DSM hopes to have its plant in Geleen, the Netherlands, running at reduced rates on Friday, following a complete shutdown, a company official said on Wednesday.

“We restart again on Friday and will be running at reduced rates for the next few months,” the source added.

The 30,000 tonne/year plant, the smallest of three lines, was shut down unexpectedly in the middle of the previous week due to a problem with its pressure valves.

The company have had to be extra careful with issuing material, in light of this problem.

It was too soon to tell whether the shutdown had had an effect on the melamine market.
