HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US major Dow Chemical has begun integrated production of phenolic glycol ethers at its Freeport facilities in Texas, the company said on Thursday.
The new plant will produce several grades of propylene glycol phenyl ether and ethylene glycol phenyl ether performance solvents that Dow said are part of a fast-growing market segment.
The company, which did not disclose capacity information, will retain four additional employees, use personnel from adjacent operations and leverage existing phenol, ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (?xml:namespace>
The company added that the continuous process technology will improve purity, colour and consistency of the specialty solvents.
Propylene glycol phenyl ether and ethylene glycol phenyl ether are used for applications including cleaning products, coatings, inks, cosmetics, textiles and as fluids for the metal working industry.
