MUMBAI (ICIS news)--Polyplex has commenced operations of new and expanded metallised, extrusion coating and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film line capacity in Thailand and Turkey, the firm said on Friday.

In Thailand, the company commissioned commercial operations of its extrusion coating film line in April while the metalliser expansion project started commercial production from May, the PET producer added.

The metalliser expansion project is expected to significantly raise value-added films sales, the firm said.

Polyplex's 100% subsidiary in Turkey commenced commercial operations from its second thin PET film line and metallised film line in May, resulting in a doubling of present capacity.

"Both the projects were commissioned on schedule and within the budgeted cost," it added.

The company said that it has approved a proposal to invest $70m in a thin PET film line, polyester chips manufacturing facility and metallised film line in Thailand.

"The line to be installed is the largest line available and will result in economies on the operational front," Polyplex said.
