LONDON (ICIS news)--Lanxess may shed 93 jobs at its rubber subsidiary in Zwijndrecht, Belgium, to reduce costs, the German company said on Wednesday.

“The aim is to improve the competitiveness of butyl rubber production there,” the company said.

Employees at Lanxess Rubber would be offered early retirement on a voluntary basis, Lanxess said in a statement.

Restructuring at the plant follows the instigation of a 2006 plan to improve productivity and lower raw material and energy costs, the company said.
