SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China-based Tianjin Soda Plant has started building a 40,000 tonne/year polyformaldehyde plant, which will be completed in August 2009, a company source said on Thursday.

The plant would cost around yuan (CNY)1bn ($144m) to build, the source added.

"Domestic polyformaldehyde demand has been increasing these years, but there are only a handful of units due to the foreign-controlled sophisticated production technology," he said.

The plant is located at Tianjin city in northeast China.
