NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s Essar Oil Limited (EOL) said on Friday it had started commercial production at its 10.5m tonnes/year refinery and was operating at capacity utilisation of 119.05% (12.5m tonnes/year).
The company said that secondary process units, including 422 tonnes/day sulphur recovery unit, were operating above the respective nameplate capacity. The sulphur recovery unit began trial runs in February.
The company said the refinery began commercial production on 1 May after phased commissioning of various units beginning in November 2006.
Work on expansion of refinery in two phases to 34m tonnes/year was progressing well, the company said.
The phase I expansion is scheduled to go on stream in 2009 and phase II expansion in 2010.
