SHANGHAI (ICIS news) — China-based Zhenjiang Guoheng, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s Grand Pacific Petrochemical Corp (GPPC) in Zhenjiang, China, plans to restart its 100,000 tonnes/year acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plant on 10 June, a company source said on Monday.
The producer had the plant shut down temporarily in late April due to poor margins while keeping a separate 150,000tonnes/year ABS plant at nearly full operating rate, the source said adding ABS output would increase substantially after the plant restarted.
The 100,000 tonnes/year ABS plant with only one single line was the biggest single-line capacity in the world, he said.
Besides the ABS plants in China, GPPC also operates two styrene monomer (SM) plants with a total capacity of 330,000 tonnes/year and a 88,000 tonnes/year ABS plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
