SHANGHAI (ICIS news) --- Beifang Jinhua Polyurethanes Company, based in Liaoning province, plans to start up its 50,000 tonne/year toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) plant at the end of this year, said a company source on Monday.

A test run is expected in October before going on stream in December or early 2009, the source added.
“TDI production is a kind of high-risk project, so we must have several test runs to make sure there are no problems before commencing formal production,” she said.
Beifang Jinhua Polyurethanes Company is a joint venture between Liaoning Jinhua Chemical Group and China North Industries Group Corporation in 2005 with an initial investment cost of yuan (CNY) 814m ($117m).
May TDI prices were firm at the average range of CNY 46,000-52,000/tonne ex-tank in domestic trades across all regions as most traders saw limited upside potential in June prices due to weaker demand in summer.
($1 = CNY 6.94)
