SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Teijin Chemical has plans to shut down its 130,000 tonne/year polycarbonate (PC) plant in Matsuyama, Japan, for a month-long turnaround, a source from the company said on Tuesday.

“The plant will be shut from the beginning of July for a month. Because of the company’s plan to shut the plant in July, there will not be any reduction in production rates for the time being,” the source said.

Teijin Chemical has already reduced the output from its 220,000 tonne/year Singapore line by an unspecified amount due to higher feedstock prices and poor demand.

Teijin Chemical is the largest producer of PC in Asia.
