SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Mitsui Chemicals will shut down its 450,000 tonne/year cracker in Osaka for a month-long maintenance, a source from the company said on Thursday.

"We will shut the cracker from 27 June for maintenance and it will only be restarted on 24 July," the source added.

The Mitsui cracker shutdown, the only one in July, will mark the end of the heavy turnaround period in Japan where up to five crackers were shut down in April and May.

Mitsui Chemicals operates another cracker with a capacity of 617,000 tonne/year in Chiba, Ichihara.
