SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--A polypropylene (PP) outage at Saudi European Petrochemical Co's (Ibn Zahr) plant in Al-Jubail has intensified supply constraints in the Middle East, sources close to the company said on Thursday.

Customers and traders said one of the 640,000 tonne/year plant’s two lines was shut down early this week due to technical problems.

“We have not been informed when the line is expected to restart, but have been warned that our July allocations will be reduced,” a customer said.

Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) officials were not available for comment. Ibn Zahr

is an affiliate of Saudi major SABIC.

Major PP producers in the Middle East include SABIC, Kuwait's Petrochemical Industries Co (PIC), Saudi Polyolefins Co and Oman Polypropylene Co.
