SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China-based Jiangsu Sopo plans to turn around its 600,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant from 25 June for nearly two weeks, a company source said on Friday.

"We will reduce supply to the market during the turnaround period, so the price might continue to rise on the basis of current high level," the source added.

Prices of acetic acid surged by yuan (CNY)250-350/tonne ($36-50/tonne) this week to CNY6,400-6,750/tonne ex-tank east China amid tight supply, traders said.

Its downstream ethyl acetate plant with a capacity of 250,000 tonnes/year will also be shut down at the same time.

The company is located in Zhenjiang city, in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu.
