SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--State-run Ethylene Malaysia (EMSB), which is currently undergoing a maintenance turnaround at its 400,000 tonne/year cracker in Kertih, will restart on 10 July, market sources said on Monday.

The cracker was originally scheduled to shut down in the second half of April but the 40-45-day turnaround was delayed due to unspecified reasons.

The ethane cracker, located on the eastern coast of Malaysia, supplies ethylene to neighbouring Polyethylene Malaysia, which operates a 280,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) swing plant at Kertih.

Ethylene is also delivered to local styrene monomer and vinyl chloride monomer plants in Malaysia.

EMSB is a joint venture between Malaysia's state-owned Petronas, BP and Japan's Idemitsu Petrochemical.
