US April EDC exports rise 22% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US ethylene dichloride (EDC) exports were 82,190 tonnes in April, up 22% from the same month one year earlier, according to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Tuesday.

Exports in April were also 82% higher than the 45,274 tonnes shipped in March amid stronger demand from the downstream polyvinyl chloride (PVC) industry in northeast Asia.

South Korea was the top export destination for US-made EDC at 51,344 tonnes, or 62% of total shipments for the month, followed by Japan and China, the ITC said.

US EDC spot prices were assessed in the $340-380/tonne (€218-243/tonne) FOB (free on board) US Gulf during the week ended 6 June, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
