SABIC shuts down prilled urea unit for maintenanceLONDON (ICIS news)--Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) has shut down one of its prilled urea units for scheduled maintenance set to last more than a month, a company source said on Wednesday.

The source would not specify which of its prilled urea units had been shut down or exactly when, but said the maintenance work was expected to end around mid-July.

As the work was scheduled, SABIC’s contract customers would not be impacted, although it did report limited availability for spot business.

SABIC’s urea plants are located in Al-Jubail and Damman and operated through affiliates Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Co(Safco), Al-Jubail Fertilizer Co and National Chemical Fertilizer Co (Ibn al-Baytar).

Its total capacity is around 3.8m tonnes of prilled and granular urea.
