LONDON (ICIS news)--One ethylene oxide (EO) buyer’s surfactant production in southern Europe has been brought to a standstill due to truck driver strike action in the region, said the source on Wednesday.
The source said that there was no option but to stop output as there were no deliveries either entering or leaving the site due to the road blockages on the France/Spain border.
Negotiations were ongoing between the Spanish haulage companies and the government.
On Tuesday, 54 support measures were put forward by the government and a transport commission, but this was vetoed by the hauliers' associations that had called the strike.
The protest began on Monday for an indefinite period in reaction to rising fuel prices.
