Iran's Marun Petrochemical starts PP exports

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran's Marun Petrochemical has begun to export cargoes from its 300,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant at Bandar Imam, which started up last month, sources close to the company said on Thursday.

"All the output from the plant, which is currently operating at 60% of its nameplate capacity, will be exported," one of the sources said.

The export destinations being targeted outside the Middle East are Europe, Turkey, China, India and southeast Asia, a second source said.

The plant sources propylene feedstock from Marun's 1.1m tonne/year cracker at Bandar Imam.

Ethylene from the cracker feeds Marun's 300,000 tonne/year high density PE (HDPE) plant and 400,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) unit.
