SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean aromatics producer LG Chem is on track to shut down its plant producing benzene, toluene and mixed xylenes (BTX) from June 19 for a catalyst change, said a company source on Thursday.
The Yeosu-based facility would be shut down for eight-nine days, the source added.
The naphtha cracker produces 220,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 100,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 55,000 tonnes/year of solvent grade xylene.
Ahead of the shutdown, the company had no stocks of solvent grade xylene in June, with the next shipment available for second-half July, he said.
LG Chem is one of the three suppliers of solvent grade xylene in South Korea, along with fellow producers Honam Petrochemical (HPC) and Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Center. (YNCC).
