SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China is regulating the road transport of dangerous chemicals from 1 June to 30 September with an integrated system of supervision and management, an official from China’s Ministry of Public Security said on Thursday.
“The move, lasting four months, is also aimed to ensure a safe environment for Beijing Olympics Games and is a part of Olympics security work,” the official said.
The goal of this large-scale move was to normalise road transport of dangerous chemicals and avoid spillages and explosions.
Local governments will closely supervise and inspect the transportation of dangerous chemicals on major expressways and in some provinces with large volumes of hazardous transports, the source said.
