SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Sinopec subsidiary Guangzhou Petrochemical restarted its 200,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant on 12 June, said a company source on Friday.
The LLDPE line was shut down on 5 June for a week-long maintenance, the source said, adding that it was expected to produce on-spec grades next week.
The producer incurred a loss of around 5,000 tonnes of LLPDE during the shutdown period. It has raised its product price by yuan (CNY)1,000/tonne ($145/tonne) this week to CNY15,600/tonne ex-works, the source added.
Sinopec had cut ethylene output at its subsidiaries from 1 June to ensure the availability of oil products for the Beijing Olympics and for the recovery efforts in Sichuan.
